Science in the Suburbs returns to Cronulla!

Science in the Suburbs at Cronulla is back in 2010!

Start off the day of discovery with an introductory talk explaining the role of the Cronulla Fisheries Research Centre of Excellence, the importance of Marine Biology, and the role the site has played in the Indigenous history of the area.

All students have the opportunity to take part in hands on workshops. Students will experience aquatic animal tagging and can participate in a fish dissection to learn how scientists discover information about their age and reproductive habits.

This program covers various areas of the Stage 6 syllabus:
• Core Module 3 – Life in the Sea
• Core Module 5 – Marine & Maritime Employment
• Optional Module 8 - Local Area Study
• Optional Module 10 - Commercial & Recreational Fishing
• Optional Module 11 – Aquaculture
• Optional Module 12 - Marine Resource Management
• Optional Module 14 - Anatomy & Physiology of Marine Organisms
• Optional Module 24 – Personal Interest Project

Science in the Suburbs at Cronulla is hosted by the Department of Primary Industries Fisheries Research Centre of Excellence, Cronulla and brought to you by Science in the City partners the Australian Museum and the University of Sydney, and Outreach Partner Charles Sturt University.
